Passionn\u00e9 d\u2019action culturelle, il est\u00a0le premier pr\u00e9sident des Rencontres Internationales d\u2019Art Contemporain de La Rochelle, festival cr\u00e9\u00e9 en 1973. Membre fondateur de la Maison de la Culture de La Rochelle\u00a0et \u00e9lu de cette ville, il est\u00a0\u00a0l\u2019un des principaux acteurs de la cr\u00e9ation du Mus\u00e9e du Nouveau Monde. De 1982 \u00e0 1992, il est\u00a0Conseiller culturel, scientifique et de coop\u00e9ration pr\u00e8s l\u2019Ambassade de France en Autriche puis en Allemagne. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, il continue \u00e0 \u0153uvrer \u00e0 l\u2019extension et au d\u00e9veloppement de la coop\u00e9ration franco-allemande dans le cadre de la Commission interminist\u00e9rielle de
